Joining the Working Dogs For Vets Family
Working Dogs For Vets (WDFV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that operates like a family. Our mission is built on a network of dedicated volunteers who meet one-on-one with veterans to help you train your own service dog. We serve veterans living with PTSD, TBI, MST, mobility and stability challenges, seizures, diabetes, and hearing or visual impairments.

Our Commitment to You: WDFV is 100% volunteer-led. We do not charge our veterans any fees—there is NO application fee, NO training fee, and NO background check fee. We provide these services at zero cost to those who have served.

I. Eligibility Requirements
Veteran Status: I am a disabled veteran.
Capability: I am financially, physically, and cognitively capable of caring for a dog.
Medical Necessity: I have a doctor's recommendation for a service dog. My provider agrees that this program is clinically appropriate for me and that I am capable of training a dog with assistance.

Commitment: I can commit to weekly training sessions for one year or more.
Pay It Forward: I agree to help other veterans in need and raise public awareness for the mission when I am able.

II. Safety & Compliance
Background Screening: To ensure the safety of our "family" of volunteers and members, all applicants must pass a background check. WDFV covers the cost of this screening; there is no charge to the veteran.

Animal Welfare: I have never been convicted of any crime against animals.
Conduct: I agree to abide by all WDFV policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.
